Terms of Use

Effective October 12, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Files Across iOS and iPadOS application ("Files Across", "the app"), made by Stefan Dasic, an independent developer ("we", "us"). By downloading or using Files Across you agree to them. Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to every app from the App Store.

1. What Files Across is

Files Across transfers files between your iPhone or iPad and a web browser on a computer on the same local network. While you are sharing, the app runs a temporary web page on your device that the computer opens to send and receive files. Files Across has no account, no cloud service and no servers of ours; files go directly between your devices.

2. Your files and your responsibility

Only transfer files that you own or are authorized to copy, and only connect computers you trust. You are responsible for the files you share, for choosing which folder and files a connected computer can see, and for complying with any rights that apply to them.

Your files remain yours. We claim no rights over anything you transfer, and we never receive a copy.

3. Local network and security

While sharing is on, your device can be reached by other devices on the same local network. A browser can connect only with the current one-time pairing code, and only one browser at a time. The connection uses plain HTTP and is not encrypted: someone else on the same network could observe or interfere with the traffic. Use Files Across only on networks you trust, such as your home Wi-Fi, and stop sharing when you are done.

A connected computer can see, download and add files in the shared folder and download the files you added. Deleting a file in the shared folder deletes it from that folder. Transfers are provided as-is and interrupted transfers start again from the beginning, so keep copies of important originals.

5. Your data and backups

Files Across stores files on your device only (see the Privacy Policy). We have no copy and cannot recover anything. Deleting the app deletes its own folder (On My iPhone › Files Across) and the files in it. You are responsible for backing up your device and your files. Photo library export saves copies on your computer when you run it; it is not an automatic or continuous backup.

6. Acceptable use

Don't reverse-engineer, tamper with or disrupt the app or its purchase system; don't use Files Across to infringe anyone's copyright or other rights; and don't use it to access devices, networks or files you are not authorized to access.

7. Intellectual property

Files Across, its design, code, name and icon are our property and are protected by copyright and other laws. These terms grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store rules. Files you transfer remain the property of their respective owners.

8. Third-party services

Purchases are provided by Apple. Items stored in iCloud or another storage provider are downloaded by iOS under that provider's terms when you share them. The browser on your computer is software from its own maker; we are not responsible for how it stores downloads.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

Files Across is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We don't warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that it will work on every network, computer or browser, or that every transfer will succeed.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages arising from your use of Files Across, including loss of data or files. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

11. Changes and availability

We may update Files Across, change or retire features, or update these terms as the app evolves. Material changes to these terms will be posted here with a new effective date; continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. We may also discontinue the app; if that happens, existing purchases are handled under App Store rules.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Serbia, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where the mandatory consumer-protection law of your country of residence gives you additional rights. Where Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies, it applies in addition to these terms.
